Dep. Minister visit to NRSC

The Executive Director of the National Road Safety Commission, Ing. May Obiri Yeboah has urged staffs of the Ghana Drive Association to focus efforts on training drivers properly and assisting learner-drivers on road safety. This she said will enable them to have a better understanding on the basic rudiments of road safety rules to serve as a guide when driving.

She was speaking at a sod cutting ceremony held by the Ghana Drive Association to commission their new secretariat office in Accra. The Manager of the Driver Test Training and License (DTTL Department of the DVLA, Mr. Richard Lamptey revealed that road crashes kill over five hundred people in every quarter of the year. Apart from reforms initiated by the organization to help mitigate this monstrous canker, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority will continue to ensure that only people with requisite training will be licensed to drive on the road to help reduce the frequent occurrence of road accidents each year.

The Chairperson of the occasion Mr. Cecil Garbrah added that the police should show more commitment to enforcing existing traffic. On his part, the President of the Association, Rev.Erasmus Amankwa Addo said, this is the first time the association has been able to attain an office on its own.

The Executive Director of the National Road Safety Commission, Ing May Obiri-Yeboah with other representatives from the Driver and Vehicle License Authority (DVLA), Ghana Private Roads Transport Union (GPRTU), and the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) jointly cut the sod to commission the new National Secretariat office of the Ghana Drive Association.

Ghana Drive Association, is an association driving schools licensed by the DVLA to provide skills training among others for beginner drivers
